Winter in a Warm Studio 2018

February brings beauty to the north country and the Adirondacks. While some people resist this time of year, I embrace the awesome snow and winter wonderland. There is a certain peaceful, quietness about it, that lends itself to being inside and painting.

I am working on a commission for a client which also speaks to the colors of winter. Rich hues of blue with white being captured in the photograph and the painting.

10th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Project

I have been blessed to be able to take my grief, with the loss of our beloved Kim nearly 9 years ago to a brutal untimely death, and sponsor this awareness project for the last 10 years.
On her behalf and to others who have lost their lives to violence, I would like to dedicate this show and event to them. Our angels in heaven will not be forgotten. The children they have left behind will not be forgotten.
Catholic Charities is one of many organizations that help victims find their way out.
Hotline, Emergency Shelters, Education, Crime Victims Assistance, Counseling and more!
Find your local chapter and donate!
We are pleased to be supporting this project once again in honor of those victims that we have lost and to those who are in need of resources and support!
Stop by and show your support during the month of October. See flyer for a special event on
Sat. Oct 14, 3-5pm

Hello! It's good to be back!

Hello anyone who visits here.
I have returned to this spot after neglecting it for too long. I am going to devote this blog to my fine custom picture framing business and my personal paintings created in soft pastel.
I have a separate blog devoted to Saunders Gallery of Fine Art. You will find that link on the right side of this blog.
I have been in the Art and Framing industry for more than 25 years now and have owned my own shop for more than 8 years.
I am proud to say that I continue to service the community with better than ever high quality picture framing materials, experience and a friendly warm service.
Last year I worked with the Lake George Historical Association to restore an old guilded frame that surrounded a painting of General Montcalm, donated by the Montcalm Restaurant that was demolished earlier in the year... Here I am , on site, to work on the project. I fixed the damaged areas by building up with plaster and then carving to match the original. Then finishing with gold paint.

bjsartworks moves to a new location

bjsartworks is moving to the first floor of the historic Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, NY in July to Suite 105,
 formerly "Elements of Art"

bjsartworks will continue the best in service and quality of all your custom framing needs and looks forward to your visit in the new gallery!

Centrally located, this space is a large store front with room to continue the bjsartworks business model with easy access and better visibility. bjsartworks will focus more on creative framing and an emphasis on the original works in Pastel by Bev (Artist/Owner) from her studio. Soon to offer beginning classes in pastel.

One of my latest paintings of my daughter, challenged me with the strong shadows of the Florida sun and the foreshortened position of her on the page. "Andrea at Sanibel" Pastel on Paper

A rotating gallery will continue to keep the Gallery fresh with new works by a featured artist every 6 weeks.

The first show in the new space opens July 21 - August 25
Opening Reception: Sat. July 21, 4 - 6 pm in the New Space!

Phil Casabona , a young inspiring photographer, sees beyond the landscape to the characters that may go unnoticed within the cityscape. These people are the soul of our community.
                                                  A Photographic Narrative Installation

Installation Title - "Community Unseen"
Artist Statement - In the short amount of time I have been living here in Glens Falls I have seen certain individuals and witnessed moments that left an impression on me. There are people here that make up this community who seem to go un-noticed. These images help to bring these people out of the shadows and into the eyes of the community. I fear that without these images they will not be noticed until they are gone.

Sat. Sept 17,2011 Seasonal News and Reflections of Summer

Join me in supporting the victims of Domestic Violence as we ask for your help during the month of October.
The Fourth Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Project

“Break the Chains”
will open Saturday, Oct.1
at bjsartworks Gallery and run through Monday, Oct. 31.
Opening reception is Saturday Oct. 8, 4 – 6 pm
Meet the artists and enjoy the acoustic inspirational music of Pam Barker.

bjsartworks hopes to raise $1000.00 to give to our local Catholic Charities to help support the relief they provide to victims of domestic violence.

A raffle of original art will help meet our goal.....along with other opportunities to donate.

Domestic Violence is the silent devastation of families and souls.
This social dysfunction is deep rooted in families and individuals throughout history.
The cycle continues to breed destruction and quite often fatal outcomes in our society,
affecting more people and families than we know.

This project is designed to bring awareness to the public and to paint a picture of the devastation that this violence creates, as well as the survival that embodies hope and faith that rises us above and beyond the chains that bind individuals and families who have been victimized by domestic violence.
This years’ show continues to attract artists from around the region who believe in the cause.
Sculpture by Michelle Vara, Jane Bouchard, Pam Barker and 2D work by Fred Holman,
Connie Dodge, to name a few.
Pam Barker, the inspiration for this project, exhibits new interactive work for this show which urges us to reach beyond ourselves as victims, to look within and find our strength that will carry us above the past and into the future of hope and a life without violence.

Donations for raffle include.......
Jackie Cordell of ”A Keeper’s Jackpot” Beaded Jewelry
Cynthia Holman of “Beads by Cynthia” Original Bead and Chain work
Rhea Love Doran of Buttondown Gallery Original Flame work glass beads
Original Painting by Bev Saunders

Check donations can be made out to Catholic Charities and mailed or dropped off at the gallery.
Thank you for your support!
